Local magazines are useful for finding out more about a community and the people within it.  See the list of typical articles below.  The earliest one here was the Parish Magazine issued from 1888 through to the 1970s and beyond in an almost unbroken line.  In addition to births, marriages & deaths it gives an indication of what people did for the church in their spare time and what the church did for them too, both at home and abroad, in peace-time or in war-time.

Typical articles on local people include.......

I’ve said it many times,  “Scratch the surface of this community and it’s amazing what you reveal about its people’s history, activities and capabilities.”

The Gargunnock Quarterly appeared in 1986 and served the village well until 1992.  10 years later in 2002 the Gargunnock News appeared. Beginning with a couple of quality black and white issues it gradually became full-colour throughout, financed 110% by its cover price and advertising revenue.  Its last edition was in 2008 after which it was succeeded by the current Bugle.

Below is an indication of the copies of the various magazines I have in my collection.  Many folks here archive their local magazines so if you have any of the editions missing from my set of  the Gargunnock Quarterlies please let me know.  If you need a copy of a particular magazine, or whatever,  contact me and I’ll try to help.
